Aphiemi is an ancient Greek word translated “forgive” in the Bible. Other meanings include to leave, to let go, to allow to leave.
See, it’s not about doing something TO the other person(s). And it’s not about CHANGING them. That’s a good thing, because you can’t change them, and you may well damage yourself trying. Let it go.
Maybe THAT’s a key reason that Jesus said that we must forgive. Mandela’s attitude is smart.
